Inter striker Federico Bonazzoli has said that he is going through a happy time in his career after winning the Viareggio Cup with the Nerazzurri and playing for Italy at the under-19 level.

The 17-year-old was the star of the Viareggio Cup, scoring five goals in the tournament for the Nerazzurri, and he also played in the Italy’s 1-1 draw against Georgia on Wednesday.

“It is a very happy period for me, I had only the need to play,” Bonazzoli told vivoazzurro.it. “The important thing is to find continuity and to make myself ready at all times.”

Bonazzoli, who is on loan from Sampdoria, would like to play for the Azzurrini side at the European under-21 Championships in June and he hopes that Luigi Di Biagio selects him.

“I hope here and I always put in great effort. I would like to go the European Championship but then the coach Di Biagio will decide,” he said.

“The national team is a direct consequence of what you can do with the club and wearing the blue shirt is one of the most beautiful things for a player.”
