Despite a bright start to life at AC Milan, new signing Mattia Destro endured a tough day at the San Siro on match-day 24.

After scoring one goal in his first three games, Destro has been a relative success at Milan however was poor during the game against Cesena, barely being involved and was eventually hauled off in the 63rd minute for Giampaolo Pazzini.

Manager Filippo Inzaghi has come out in defence of his new striker and said “He trains very well, probably needs a little time to get into our tactical system, but should relax and did score last week [against Empoli].”

Destro is aiming to make his loan deal at Milan permanent with a £16 million fee agreed if he impresses between now and the end of the season.
