Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard was disappointed with Mario Balotelli after he appeared to snatch the ball from a team mate to take a penalty, during last night’s Europa League match with Besiktas.

The former AC Milan striker was seen remonstrating with Jordan Henderson as the pair discussed who should take the spot kick, with Balotelli eventually stepping up to fire home and give his side a 1-0 victory.

“Mario scored which is fine but it’s not good to see two team mates arguing,” he told ITV. “Of course Mario wanted to score but it was disrespectful towards Jordan.

“What would happen if everybody had wanted to take it?”

Gerrard was not involved in match but was quick to point out that decisions made in the dressing room should always be respected on the pitch by all players.
