Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers reportedly flew to Italy this week to watch Roma star Miralem Pjanic.

The Reds are keen admirers of the 24-year-old, and are looking at potential replacements for talismanic midfield legend Steven Gerrard.

Rodgers made the trip to Rome immediately after his side’s fixture on Tuesday, missing the post-match conference in order to make his flight, according to the Daily Express.

However, the Giallorossi are believed to be under no pressure to sell their prized asset, who still has over three years left on his contract.

The Merseyside club reportedly value the player at a €33 million initial offer, but Roma may be inclined to hold out for a larger fee for the former Lyon player.

Pjanic moved to the capital from France’s Ligue 1 in 2011 for €11m.
