Alessandro Matri has rejoined Italian champions Juventus after ending his loan spell at Genoa.

The 30-year-old, who has scored seven goals in 16 appearances for the Rossoblu this campaign, returns to the Bianconeri on loan from AC Milan to fill the void left by Sebastian Giovinco’s move to Toronto F.C.

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi waited to confirm his departure until Roma’s Marco Borriello’s return to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris for a third spell was rubber-stamped.

Matri’s return to Turin sees him reunited with Massimiliano Allegri, who coached the player at both Cagliari and Milan.

The striker scored 27 league goals in three seasons at the Juventus Stadium between 2011 and 2013.

Juventus were linked with a move for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, who spent six months at Juve last season, but the forward for now remains on loan at Inter from Southampton.
