AC Milan’s plans to construct a new stadium have hit a buffer after local residents expressed their opposition to the proposals.

The new stadium has been mooted to be build in Zone 8 of Milan, in the north west of the city.

However, la Repubblica indicate that the area is already congested and busy and that a stadium in the area would only exacerbate those issues.

President of Zone 8 Simone Zambelli has admitted his confusion over what would be a prestigious building for the area to contain.

“I confess that the idea leaves me perplexed,” he revealed, “it seems everything has to be done in this area.”

Since 1926, the Rossoneri have played their home games at the San Siro Stadium, which is in Zone 7 of Milan. Most of that time has seen the club share with Inter, but a new stadium would be solely for AC Milan.
