Official: Parma sell majority stake

Parma logoParma have officially announced that they sold majority stake of the club, following the financial crisis that has hit the club over the last few days.

Parma were found out to have failed in paying their players several months worth of wages. As a result, the club experienced a fire-sale on deadline day of the January transfer window. The likes of Antonio Cassano and Felipe have also terminated their contracts with the club.

Parma made the announcement on Monday via the the club’s official website, explaining that the club has sold majority stake to its parent company Sporting Event Spa.

The statement added that Fiorenzo Alborghetti will become stand-in president and will handle all the procedures of the board along with sporting director Pietro Leonardi. The statement concluded that any more details on the future of Parma would be released in the coming days.
