Parma’s remaining Serie A fixtures would be considered to be automatic losses for the Crociati if the club were to dissolve now.

Had the Emilia-Romagna club withdrawn in the first half of the season, all of the previous results from the current campaign would have been voided by the Lega Serie A.

According to a statement from the Lega Calcio website, if Parma drops out of Serie A now, the results from their previous fixtures will stand and all of the Ducali’s remaining fixtures will be classified as defeats.

This ruling was introduced by the Federal Council from the 1993-94 football season onwards after Arezzo had played 27 out of 34 matches in the previous Serie C1 season and all of them were deemed to be void.

Lega Calcio also said in the statement that with the introduction of Financial Fair Play by UEFA, squad limits and an equivalent to English football’s “fit and proper person test”, it hopes that there will be less clubs in Italy facing bankruptcy.
