Serie A club Parma could be declaring bankruptcy in order to play in Serie B next season or face playing in the “Dilettanti” or amateur divisions.

The Ducali will not be able to play against Udinese on Sunday because of insufficient funds to open the Stadio Ennio Tardini. These costs include turning on the electricity at the stadium and the recruitment of security guards for the match.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti would like the club to apply for a piloted bankruptcy and a hearing in regards to a bankruptcy filing will be made on March 19.

Doing this would still allow Parma FC to keep its name and they would start the 2015-16 season in Serie B. If this does not happen, the Ducali will play in the Dilettanti next season. More than likely, they would play in Serie D like other fallen clubs Padova and Siena.
