Sampdoria are planning to swap right-back Fabrizio Cacciatore with Palermo centre-back Ezequiel Munoz with the intention to boost their depth in defence.

The Blucerchiati have been active during the winter transfer window, and now they are searching for a replacement for veteran centre-back Daniele Gastaldello, who will be leaving for Serie B club Bologna.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sampdoria want to swap Cacciatore with Munoz if they are not able to purchase centre-back Nicolas Spolli from Catania in Serie B.

Cacciatore has played in 10 league matches for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team this season but he is often the second-choice right-back behind Lorenzo De Silvstri. As a result he has been used as a left-back as well as a centre-back.

Munoz has been playing for Palermo since 2010 and the Argentine stayed with the Rosanero when they played in Serie B last season. He has played 13 times for Palermo so far in the current campaign.
