Sampdoria have made an offer to sign the Paraguayan midfielder Edgar Barreto on a free transfer from Palermo.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires in June and Palermo are working to keep him in Sicily but the Blucerchiati have contacted the player with a proposal to take him to Liguria.
According to SportItalia, Samp have offered the player a three year contract worth €1.2 million a season excluding bonuses.
Barreto has previously declared that he would like to stay at Palermo and the Rosanero have held a meeting to discuss a contract renewal.
Palermo are reportedly willing to offer with a basic wage of €800,000 per year for three years with appearances fees and performance-related bonuses taking the player’s earnings up to around the €1.1m mark.
Barreto has made 14 appearances so for Palermo during the 2014-15 Serie A season and scored twice.
