Sampdoria have reportedly reached an agreement with Palermo captain Edgar Barreto, that will see the midfielder join the club when his current deal expires in the summer.
The 30-year-old Paraguayan international has been a key member of the high-flying Rosanero outfit this campaign, but was unable to reach an agreement with the club to extend his stay.
Sport Mediaset report that Barreto has agreed to a two-year deal, with an option for a third, to join Sampdoria at the conclusion of the current campaign.
Torino were also reported to be interested in the midfield general, but seem to have lost out to the Blucerchiati.
Barreto has made 19 appearances for Palermo this season, netting twice and setting up five others.
