Former Siena and Palermo coach Giuseppe Sannino has spoken about the deal which took Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina to English Premier League leaders Chelsea.

The 26-year-old Colombia international joined Jose Mourinho’s squad in a deal worth in the region of €30 million during the January transfer window.

“Fiorentina have made a big deal in economic terms, but in Florence sometimes it is better to win,” the 57-year-old told Radio Blue when questioned about La Viola.

“Cuadrado has had this opportunity and he has exploited it. English football has a high pace, it is true, but it must be said that in the Premier League referees do not blow the whistle so often, they let you play. Each league has its merits and its flaws.”

The former Udinese and Lecce attacker came off the bench during a 2-1 win at Aston Villa to make his debut last Saturday before starting Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Everton, where Cuadrado was replaced by Cesc Fabregas after 70 minutes on his home debut.
