Italian businessman Alfredo Scaccia is reportedly set to meet Parma’s administrators, with a view to taking over the club.

The troubled club has been struggling with severe financial crisis and was recently declared bankrupt, while the club’s owner, Giampietro Manenti, was also arrested for alleged money laundering.

Scaccia had previously declared that he can save the Italian club.

“From the words of mayor [Federico] Pizzarotti I gleaned a desire to interact with serious Italian businessmen who have some history behind them,” Scaccia told La Gazzetta di Parma.

“I think my profile meets those criteria, and for this reason I asked the mayor for a meeting.

“I think I have what it takes to give it a go.”

Tuttosport reports that Scaccia is set to meet Parma’s administrators to declare his interest in acquisition, official announcements are expected soon.

Parma will be allowed to play in Serie B next season, on the condition that their €47 million sporting debt is paid by June 28.
