Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has stated that his side must believe in themselves if they want to progress even further in the Champions League.

The Bianconeri defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night to claim a 5-1 aggregate win and thus seal progression to the quarter-finals, and the former AC Milan boss stated that the result is not down to the players and staff alone.

“I think the result tonight goes down to the board and the team alike,” he told Mediaset. “The boys performed well on the technical and tactical aspect, even though it’s very clear that everything becomes harder in the Champions League.

“We wanted to reach the quarter-finals, and we did it, however we must improve the way in which we keep hold of the ball.

“We were very organised defensively as well, we did gave away several fouls in the second half, but we also managed to intercept a few balls that caused danger.”

Allegri then went on to state that his side are not thinking about the quarter-finals just yet, as well as praising forward Carlos Tevez who netted two of Juve’s goals on the night.

“First let’s see who we get in the draw on Friday, then we’ll think about the next round, ” he said. “I think we possess lots of quality.

“Tevez is extraordinary, the result is fully deserved, but we mustn’t stop here, we have to believe in ourselves.

“When I arrived in Vinovo, I told the team there was still room for improvement even after three successful results.”
