Lorenzo Insigne is one of the most important players in Italy, according to Napoli head coach Rafael Benitez who also revealed that his side are struggling with injuries in defence.

The diminutive Napoli winger has been sidelined for the past four months with a knee injury and was able to return to training last week after he was given the all clear by medical staff and Benitez is keen to have him for their trip to Hellas Verona on Sunday.

“For me he is one of the most important players in Italy and crucial for Napoli,” Benitez told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“It is up to me to get the best out of him, he has shown great will-power and strength and I will select him for the game against Verona.

“We are a bit short [in defence] and we will take [Sebastiano] Luperto, who is doing well with the Primavera.

“However, the others are available, I can’t complain about absentees.”

The tactician then turned his attentions to Sunday’s opponents, Verona.

“We know the atmosphere well, it will be volatile. It will be difficult both physically and mentally.¬†We go to Verona with hope and with respect for the opposition.”
