Inter goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo has revealed that the Biscione will not be thinking of their Europa League round of 16 first leg failure against Wolfsburg in their next clash on Thursday and will only be focused on advancing in the competition.

The 30-year-old made a few costly mistakes in the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 loss to the Bundesliga club in the previous meeting between the two sides but he insists that he’s only thinking about doing well at the San Siro on Thursday and is relying on the confidence of the club to help him deliver a top performance.

Carrizo spoke during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday about Inter’s desire to go as far as possible in the Europa League this season and commented on his calm mental state ahead of the big game.

“I don’t feel any pressure for tomorrow,” said the Argentine international.

“Of course I was disappointed and saddened after our result during the first leg, but now I’m feeling calm and peaceful.

“I believe in qualification, along with the rest of the team, and I think that we’re capable of pulling off an important result tomorrow in order to continue our European journey.

“I never think about past mistakes, I concentrate on the current game and hope to transmit some tranquillity to the rest of the team.

“I have the confidence of the coach and the club, as they know I enter every game with the utmost professionalism, although sometimes my abilities are put into question after some criticism.”
