Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli has stated that he would be very pleased if Italy coach Antonio Conte called him up to represent the Azzurri in the future.
Following the disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Empoli on Sunday, the former Atalanta shot-stopper stated that the goals his side conceded were down to lack of concentration from the Neroverdi back-line.
“In the first-half we played okay but then they found the opening goal,” he told Sky Sport.
“We equalised but then conceded a second from a throw-in. Their movement was good, but I think the goals had more to do with our lack of concentration.”
Consigli has made 26 appearances for the Neroverdi in Serie A this season, and has reiterated that he would like to receive a call-up to the Italian national team.
“It would be great to get called up to the national team, however it is Antonio Conte’s decision,” he said.
“A call-up would make me the happiest person in the world.”
