Inter’s Davide Santon is one game away from permanently becoming a Nerazzurro, as he is close to activating a special clause in his contract.

The full back arrived at the San Siro on loan from English Premier League side Newcastle during the January transfer window and has been an instant success with the club where he started his career as a teenager.

“There is a clause in the deal which is triggered after having started ten games,” his agent Renzo Contratto told FcInterNews. “It will trigger a fee of €3.7 million and a four year contract for Santon.  He has played nine games so the next one is just a formality.”

The defender moved to Newcastle in 2011 and played 82 times for the Tyneside club. However, injury problems curtailed much of his time in the UK and a decision was made to loan the player back to Inter with a view to a permanent transfer.
