Wolfsburg sensation Kevin De Bruyne has hailed his team’s comeback win over Inter in the first leg of their last-16 Europa League match on Thursday.
De Bruyne was the protagonist of the fightback, scoring two goals in the second half to give the German club a two-goal advantage heading to Milan next week.
Wolfsburg did not make things easy for themselves as Rodrigo Palacio gave Inter a quick 1-0 lead just six minutes into the match.
“We played a good game, even though it was not easy because we went behind after less than 10 minutes of play,” the 23-year-old told reporters.
“Rightfully, however, the 3-1 score is a good result for Wolfsburg ahead of the match at San Siro.”
De Bruyne punished Inter for two crucial errors. He scored off a poor clearance from Inter goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo in the 63rd minute and later slotted in a free-kick.
The Belgian international has 13 goals and 21 assists in all competitions for Wolfsburg this season.
