Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella feels his side will play in a difficult game on Monday evening Serie A action against Lazio.

La Viola will miss Mario Gomez and Ciprian Tatarusanu, both through injury, as well as long-term absentees Giuseppe Rossi and Federico Bernardeschi.

“We played many games during this period, while Lazio haven’t had to [deal with the UEFA Europa League],” Montella told ViolaChannel.tv.

“We could pay something in term of fatigue, so we will have to be able to show our mental strength.”

Montella briefly touched on both team’s prior meeting in the season, when Fiorentina lost 2-0 to Lazio.

“In the first game against Lazio, we didn’t deserved to lose,” Montella said.

The Viola boss was then asked about new signing of Alberto Gilardino and his lack of playing time thus far.

“He understands the situation,” Montella said.

“Gilardino is one of the best Serie A striker inside the penalty box; he will get chances to prove himself.”
