Palermo boss Giuseppe Iachini has revealed that his team will remain focused on playing the best they can in their upcoming match against Juventus with hopes of possibly earning all three points.

The Rosanero will be hosting the Bianconeri in Sicily on Saturday and the 50-year-old understands that the visitors will be extremely tough to overcome, but believes that his squad’s motivation to secure a positive result against such a talented club will work to their advantage.

Iachini spoke during his pre-match press conference on Friday about the clash with Juventus and the possibility of Palermo landing a victory over the league leaders, while also commenting on the possible transfer of captaincy from Edgar Barreto to Stefano Sorrentino, as the captain will be making his departure from the club this summer.

“Juventus certainly have a great history and will try to continue on their successful path,” said the tactician.

“Their players always enter the field to win and it will be a difficult game, we will have to try to play perfectly if we want to achieve victory.

“It will be a test for us, but big games like this help you prepare better by giving the team more incentives to win against a great side.

“Barreto? He has given everything to the Palermo shirt and will continue to until the last minute.

“If we were to give captaincy to Sorrentino soon, it would be because we have the future in mind, not because Barreto has done anything wrong.

“We’ll be discussing it at a later date, but Edgar has always shown professionalism since his arrival at Palermo.

“Sorrentino has been here for a little while now and has helped the team at an important time in our history.

“I think he will continue to be a very important player for this club.”
