Inter striker Mauro Icardi has reportedly agreed on a contract extension with the Nerazzurri that will see the youngster receive a hefty pay increase.

The 22-year-old has scored 19 goals in all competitions for Inter this season, catching the attention of several of Europe’s top clubs.

However, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met with Icardi’s agent over the weekend and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two parties have agreed on a new deal that will see the Sampdoria man remain in Milan until 2019.

Icardi’s salary will reportedly increase to €3 million as season, a steep increase from his current €800,000 wages.

The Argentinian is said to have signed the new deal on Monday morning, but Inter president Erick Thohir was not in any rush to confirm the news.

“Icardi’s renewal? It’s on the agenda, but there is no hurry,” Thohir said.

“His contract expires in 2018, which means we can proceed calmly, without haste. Surely he will become one of the top players on the team.”
