Rafael Benitez NapoliNapoli coach Rafael Benitez has been touted as a possible replacement for Manuel Pellegrini, if Manchester City were to sack the Chilean.

Pellegrini has come under increasing pressure in the last few weeks as his side face a mammoth task to overcome Barcelona in the Champions League, and suffered a crushing blow on Saturday as they lost to Burnley, which left them five points adrift of Chelsea.

Now according to the Daily Star, Rafael Benitez has become the number one candidate to replace. Manchester City are also considering Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone but they would be far more difficult to lure away.

Benitez’s future at Napoli has often been cast in doubt, with the Spaniard stressing he will clarify his future plans in April and reportedly keen on making a return to the English Premier League.
