Parma director Pietro Leonardi has announced his resignation from the club due to on-going health issues.

The 51-year-old Italian businessman has been in and out of hospital over the last few weeks, and admitted he did not want to hinder the club in what is already a testing time for the Gialloblu.

“I decided to resign as director general of Parma FC. My health, which has worsened recently, and the current situation that has unfortunately been created around me, no longer allow me to perform my work,” read a statement on the Official Parma website.

“I do not want to be a burden to the current club owners. I thank my collaborators, all club employees, the coaching staff, the players and the fans, to whom I feel and will always feel profoundly bonded.”

Parma have failed to fulfil either of their last two league games against Udinese and Genoa, as the Ducali have been unable to raise the funds needed to participate.
