Sporting director Walter Sabatini is searching for a new first-choice stopper with Lukasz Skorupski set to leave on loan and the 38-year-old current number one Morgan De Sanctis likely to become the side’s back-up.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Italian international Sirigu is the Giallorossi’s top target but his €4 million per season salary could be a stumbling block, while Frenchman Ruffier and Fiorentina’s out of contract keeper Norberto Neto are other options.

Inter’s Samir Handanovic, whose contract expires in 2016, did appear to be Roma’s preferred target after suggestions that a meeting between the two clubs over the player took place, but it now appears that they have turned their attentions to Ligue 1 and Sirigu in particular.

The 28-year-old joined PSG from Palermo in 2011, and has been a virtual ever-present in between the sticks for Les Parisiens, making 38 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
