San SiroThe Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is set to become an exclusive stadium for Serie A giants Inter from 2018.

The Nerazzurri currently share the ground, more commonly known as San Siro, with city rivals AC Milan.

With the Rossoneri recently commencing plans to build their new Milan Stadium, the San Siro looks set to become a facility exclusively for Inter.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that president Erick Thohir met Milan mayor Giuliano Pisapia at Palazzo Marino to formalize the request and discuss his plans for the ground. Thohir proposed investment to improve the facilities at the stadium.

However the responsibility of executing the ongoing restructuring of the San Siro, in view of the Champions League final in 2016, is assigned to AC Milan.

Reportedly Thohir will monitor and manage the project.

  1. Am delighted to see Italian clubs making some strides towards better stadiums. Juve have really set the benchmark high, and love to see the likes of Milan, Roma et al work on more intimate and modern stadiums.

I’ve always liked Inter (top classic strip), and the San Siro is awesome, so this is good news. I was worried another great old stadium would disappear when Milan announced they were leaving.
