Sunderland are hoping to get a discount on Inter loanee Ricardo Alvarez with discussions ongoing between the clubs.
The 26-year-old is currently on a season long loan at Sunderland from Inter and the Premier League club have an option to buy the player at the end of the season.
Inter want €8.5 million for the Argentina international, whereas Sunderland are hoping to play closer to €7 million, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com, though there are to be talks in the next few weeks regarding the fee.
Alvarez doesn’t seem to have a future under current Inter coach Roberto Mancini and seems keen to stay in England despite only scoring one goal and only making just four Premier League starts for the the Black Cats.
The deal also hinges on Sunderland avoiding relegation from the Premier League with the team currently just four points above the relegation zone.
