AC Milan and Inter are preparing to do battle over the signature of Genoa’s Diego Perotti during the summer transfer window, following the Argentine forward’s impressive debut season in Serie A.

Both Milanese giants are struggling through disappointing seasons and are ready to make widespread changes to their respective squads in order to change their fortunes, with the 26-year-old former Sevilla winger attracting interest from both sides of the Milan divide.

Sky Sport 24 reports that Inter head scout Walter Mirabelli has been following Perotti closely in recent weeks, but that the Rossoneri currently lead the chase for the player. The AC Milan hierarchy have reportedly already held talks with Genoa president Enrico Preziosi over the player.

AC Milan’s chances of signing Perotti ahead of Inter are further strengthened by the good relationship that has been established between the Rossoneri and Genoa over recent years, with a number of different players transferring between the clubs.
