zdenek zeman cagliariStruggling Sardinia side Cagliari have gone away into ‘ritiro’, to try and halt their slide into Serie B, as the Rossoblu find themselves eight points away from safety with only eight games left to play this season.

Zdenek Zeman and his squad will now be away from their homes and families at a training camp where they can focus completely on trying to salvage the campaign and remain a topflight football club.

Sporting director Francesco Marroccu announced the decision for the ritiro after the weekend 2-0 loss to Genoa and told journalists that the squad will now be away till next Sunday, to help prepare for their difficult encounter with Napoli.

The Partenopei themselves have been sent to a training camp, to train away from the city after their recent poor run of results, and it seems to have had an instant effect as Rafa Benitez’s side defeated Fiorentina 3-0 on Sunday.
