Juventus defeated Fiorentina 3-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Tuesday night to book a place in the Coppa Italia final, and defender Giorgio Chiellini feels the game went better than him and his team expected.

Losing the first leg 2-1 at home, Juve were able to seal the win courtesy of goals from Alessandro Matri, Roberto Pereyra and Leonardo Bonucci, thus winning 4-2 on aggregate.

“We played cautiously because a team like Fiorentina could have made us pay, and the game would’ve been over because they had the advantage,” Chiellini told Rai Sport Italia.

“We got into good rhythm and attacked their weaknesses which were in the open spaces.

“They [Fiorentina] have a lot of quality, but when you are able to win possession, you can expose them.

“The game went better than expected, especially because we controlled the game.”

Chiellini then went on to speak about the possibility of Juventus winning the treble this season, as they also hold a 14 point lead at the top of Serie A and are currently in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

“The treble? I consider myself a balanced person,” he said. “I think in regards to every game. It is our fans’ dream [to win the treble], but we have to think about the present and live one day at a time.”
