Cesena coach Domenico Di Carlo was upbeat after Cesena’s 0-0 draw against Sampdoria on Saturday evening in Serie A, satisfied with the valuable point his makeshift defence gained.
That point leaves Cesena 18th in the Serie A standings, further extending their fight for survival.
“We had only one way to come to Genoa to get a result: to be united and compact,” Di Carlo told Sky Sport 24.
“Our best players were Succi and Volta, who lined up in a surprise combination.
“The absences did not help us but the fans were wonderful.
“Today we showed some limitations but also threatened to win, we played the game with a lot of heart.
“We tried to beat a Sampdoria team playing with four strikers, but at the end we claimed an incredible 0-0 draw.
“We will take the point and move on to the Genoa match, which will be another battle.”
