Marco Di Vaio Montreal ImpactBologna team manager Marco Di Vaio has emerged as the the latest person to criticise the current state of Italian stadia and has reinforced the need for improvement.

The former Italian international who has played for the likes of Monaco, Valencia and Juventus has drawn upon his nomadic playing career as a means of analysing the current state of the stadiums in Italy..

“I played in three leagues away from Italy and the comparisons in terms of the stadia is something that strikes you immediately,” said Di Vaio to Bologna’s official website.

“Wherever I was, I was amazed at how the matches had a party atmosphere. It was an event for the whole family.”

He continued: “In Italy we are lacking on this issue and it means there is a different culture to sport.

“The stadium should be a home for the fans to watch a spectacle, as well a means of entertainment for the entire family.”
