unsavoury and insulting messages displayed at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico.

There were numerous banners and chants criticising Antonella Leardi of trying to make money from the death of her son, Ciro Esposito, during the Giallorossi’s recent victory over Napoli.

“The closure of the Curva Sud is a satisfactory punishment, which was accepted without appeal by the club and for this I must give them credit,” Tavecchio said when speaking during a conference at the University of Cassino.

“I think we should ban the banners at all stages, we are the only country where these things happen.”

The Italian Football Association have decided that the Curva Sud will remain closed for Roma’s match against Atalanta on April 19 at the Stadio Olimpico, while the club must also pay a €12,000 fine.
