Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has dismissed reports of a move to Barcelona, saying he prefers to stay and win trophies at his current club.
The 29-year-old German international has endured an up-and-down campaign at the Viola so far, and was surprisingly linked with a move to the Spanish giants last week.
“Barcelona? I know what the truth is. The fans can remain calm, I don’t listen to these rumours,” Gomez told Rai.
“I have often said that I want to stay in Florence. Now is not the time to leave Fiorentina. I came to win, with a goal in mind, and I have not reached that yet.
“The fansare really strong, they always putso much heartto support the team. I love Florence because almost the whole city has the club in their hearts, and this helps the team so much.
“I dreamof winningsomething for everyone.Forthe fans, for the club.”
