The agent of Napoli fullback Christian Maggio insists that a contract renewal for his client is not dependent on the future of coach Rafa Benitez.
The former Italy international and Spanish tactician will both be out of contract at the end of the season, but Maggio is expected to make an announcement on his future within the next two weeks.
“There will be news about his future in one to two weeks, the renewal does not depend on the future of Benitez,” Massimo Briaschi told Zona Calcio broadcast on Radio Stereo 5.
“Offers from Inter? There was only contact in the past, his priority remains Napoli.
“Christian is a player of international level, an example to all and has proven this throughout the course of his career.
“Since the arrival of the Spanish coach, he has adapted to his needs and remains a staple of this time.”
Maggio joined Napoli from Sampdoria in 2008 and most recently extended his contract in 2012.
