Massimo Briaschi, agent of Napoli defender Christian Maggio, has revealed that his client’s future with the Partenopei will be determined in the coming days.
The 33-year-old will be out of a contract with the San Paolo outfit in June and has apparently been in talks with the club about a renewal for quite some time now, with his agent claiming that things are looking positive for the veteran.
Briaschi spoke to Radio Crc about Maggio’s current situation at Napoli and also commented on the right-back’s chances of returning to the Italy national team line up.
“In the coming days we will know more about his future here,” said the agent. “The agreement is almost there, some things have to be fixed, but I don’t think there are too many problems.
“Will Maggio return to the national team? The man decided that he wanted to step away from the national team awhile ago.
“It was a personal choice for him, so I think that chapter of his career is closed. However, I don’t know what would happen if Antonio Conte called him up.”
