James Pallotta RomaRoma president James Pallotta has telephoned the mother of Napoli supporter Ciro Esposito to apologise for the behaviour of Giallorossi fans during their match on Saturday.

Banners were displayed in the Stadio Olimpico denigrating Antonella Leardi, whose son was killed before the Coppa Italia Final in Rome last season.

Pallotta took it upon himself to contact Mrs Leardi by telephone to express his regret for the actions of the Roma faithful, which saw an almost immediate ban imposed on the Curva Sud.

Roma have condemned the banners and taunts that were seen at the match claiming that Mrs Leardi was looking to benefit financially from the death of her son.

“It is not fair for all our fans to be punished for the actions of a small group of idiots,” the Roma president told ASRoma Radio. “I’m sure that the vast majority of fans are sick and tired of these fools, and its up to all of us, not just in Rome, but in Italy, to put an end to their antics.”
