Fiorentina captain Manuel Pasqual has spoken with optimism for his side’s chances of success this season, and says that Monday’s crushing Serie A loss to Hellas Verona cannot be allowed to ruin their European hopes.
The Viola play host to Dynamo Kiev on Thursday night with the scoreline delicately poised at 1-1 after an even first leg, and the club captain is adamant that the Florence-based side can emerge from their recent poor form with victory.
“I hope that the defeat [against Hellas Verona] weighs little on us, because we have to be motivated for Thursday,” commented Pasqual to Rai Sport.
“We have a match where we cannot make mistakes, and we cannot fail in the next round of the Europa League.”
Reflecting on the domestic significance of the loss at home to Verona, the 33-year-old continued:
“We have not given up the league, we conceded a late goal but the team does not ever want to give up.”
