Fiorentina defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has stated that his side put on a poor show in their 3-0 loss to Juventus on Tuesday night in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.

La Viola had defeated Juventus 2-1 in Turin in the first leg, but goals from Alessandro Matri, Roberto Pereyra and Leonardo Bonucci sealed a 4-2 aggregate win for the Bianconeri, thus putting them in the final where they will face the winner in the game between Lazio and Napoli.

“We were not good in the first half and Juve took advantage,” Rodriguez told Rai Sport Italia.

“We played badly, and I apologise to the fans who came to support us. We are disappointed, but now we are looking to the future.”

“What can be improved? Fiorentina’s game is similar to how Villareal played when I was there. Today we were not bad in front of goal and we have to continue like this, but of course there is still room for improvement. You have to have the maturity to play this kind of game.

“Yes we are disappointed because we wanted to win and reach the final [of the Coppa Italia]. Now we are aiming to do well in Serie A and in the Europa League.”
