With the Serie A season entering it’s final straight, second-placed Roma are already looking to improve weaknesses in the squad in readiness for the next campaign.

The left back position has been much discussed at the Stadio Olimpico, with both Ashley Cole and Jose Holebas failing to convince and coach Rudi Garcia is now looking for a new option in defence.

According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, FC Schalke 04 full back Dennis Aogo is seriously being considered for next season. Scouts have already watched the player, who can also operate in midfield, and a summer bid to bring the German international to Rome is expected to follow.

Aogo has a contract with the Bundesliga side that expires in June 2017, so a transfer fee will need to be negotiated before any move can take place.

The 28-year-old has made 25 appearances thus far for his club and has featured ten times for his country.
