Wayne Rooney has said England should have beaten Italy in their 1–1 draw at the Juventus Stadium, on Tusday night.
Azzurri drew 1-1 with the English in their international friendly, with Graziano Pelle putting the hosts ahead before Andros Townsend equalised for the the visitor; but Rooney felt that his side should have scored another and gotten the victory.
“I think we deserved to win it in the end,” Rooney told ITV.
“We had the better chances.
“Italy were the better team in the first half, we didn’t put enough pressure on the ball and we let them have it too easy.”
“In the second half we came out and dominated and could have won the game.”
“It was a good result to get away to Italy [however].”
