Sampdoria admit Mihajlovic is ready for a big club

Sampdoria’s sporting director, Carlo Osti, has spoken of his admiration for current club coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and knows that it will be difficult to keep the Serbian in Genoa for much longer.

The Blucerchiati have had a fantastic campaign so far, currently sitting fourth in Serie A and just five points behind second-placed Roma.

“Mihajlovic is showing just how great a coach he is,” he told radio Kiss Kiss. “He has been here 18 months and has changed everything from the preparation to the style of football and even the mentality.

“He is desperate to prove his worth and if you ask me he is ready for one of the big clubs. Perhaps Napoli, but there is plenty of time to discuss this with them if they are interested.”

When asked about a potential successor, Osti said: “[Eusebio] Di Francesco is a great coach, we admire him just as many other sides do.”
