BIAGIOTTIRobur Siena’s 16-year-old goalkeeper Tommaso Biagiotti made a fairytale debut for the club he supported as a boy.

The young stopper came on as a substitute after the starting ‘keeper Andrea Fontanelli was sent off, and savedĀ a penalty with the scores level at 0-0 against Sansepolcro in a vital game in the promotion race in Serie D.

“When I entered the pitch I knew that I was going to save it,” said Biagiotti after the game.

“I always look the attacker in the face, he looked to my right so I dived that way and everything went well.”

Fifteen minutes after the young goalkeeper’s save Siena had a penalty of their own which they converted on their way to a 1-0 win, leaving them with a four point lead at the top of Serie D with two games left.

Biagiotti is now expected to start in Siena’s next game at home againstĀ Gavorrano at the stadium he first visited when just five-years-old in a fixture that could secure promotion to Lega Pro for the Bianconeri.

Robur Siena were founded in 2014 after the original Siena went bankrupt and failed to register for the 2014-15 Serie B season.
