Giovanni Trapattoni has weighed in with his own thoughts regarding the mouth-watering ‘Derby della Madonnina’ at the weekend, as both AC Milan and Inter look to salvage something from a poor season.

Both Milan-based clubs have had a relatively disastrous campaign, as the Rossoneri sit eighth in Serie A and Roberto Mancini’s side one place below in ninth.

“It’s going to be a very tense match,” he told Tuttosport. “It’s a difficult game to make any kind of prediction but I think the winner will be the team that is least scared of losing.”

Trapattoni, who played for Milan and coached Inter, also said that both under-fire tacticians should be given more time.

“In Milan not only must you get results but you must also entertain and achieving both is incredibly difficult.  The clubs must show faith in both Roberto Mancini and Filippo Inzaghi.”

The 76-year-old has had an illustrious career, coaching not only Inter and the Italian national side but also Juventus, Bayern Munich and Fiorentina.
