AC Milan’s Andrea Poli harshly criticised the referee following his side’s 3-2 defeat against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

A hat-trick from Neroverdi man Domenico Berardi proved to be the difference as Filippo Inzaghi’s men succumbed to their 12th loss of the season.

“It was a game conditioned by refereeing errors, in my opinion,” said Poli at a post match interview.

“We had recovered until it was 2-2, and the momentum was with us.

“And in a 11-against-11 situation I am convinced that this game is over, most likely, in a different way.”

The Rossoneri had leveled the proceedings after being 2-0 down in the first half. However, AC Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura was then sent off following a second yellow card for allegedly handling the ball.

“I liked how we played today, especially the first goal; but there have been serious errors,” Poli said.

“The second yellow of Bonaventura made it difficult for us.”

The 25-year-old also expressed his frustration at having to play with 10 men, now that it has happened in consecutive away games for his side.

“It is now two away games in a row that we play with 10 men. We must not give up until the end. We have a competitive squad.”

The Rossoneri are currently 11th in Serie A, on 46 points and without a chance of qualifying for Europe next season.
