Lazio goalkeeper Etrit Berisha says his side deserved all three points against Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday night which lifted the Biancocelesti into second position in the standings.
A strike ten minutes into the second half by defender Santiago Gentiletti gave the under-strength Le Aquile a slight advantage over nearest rivals Roma and Napoli in the race for Champions League qualification with both those sides heading into action on Sunday.
“It was not easy to leave this stadium with three points, so we are all delighted,” Berisha told Lazio Style Radio.
“We have proved once again we are a great team as this was a very difficult game and we were missing some players.”
The Biancocelesti can now look towards Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico and Berisha is confident his side can lift the trophy.
“We are looking forward to the final, we have worked hard to get there and deserve to be there,” the defender continued.
“Juventus are a great team and it will be hard but it’s a one off game and anything can happen.”
