Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva believes his side deserve to be in the Champions League next season after they clinched third place with a trilling 4-2 win over Napoli at the San Paolo on Sunday evening.
Late goals by Miroslav Klose and Ogenyi Onazi sealed the victory for the Biancocelesti after Napoli had come back from 2-0 down with a Gonzalo Higuain quick fire double, but the Argentine then missed a penalty before the Romans clinched the win.
“Lazio areĀ a great club and we have had a fantastic season,” Candreva told Sky Sport Italian after the game.
“We deserve to qualify for the Champions League, but I feel sorry for Higuain for missing the penalty.
“To finish third in the league is a huge step for the club as we felt very bitter after the defeat against Roma last week.
“It was a big test of character for us tonight so we are delighted to achieve our goal for the season.”
