Free agent forward Antonio Cassano has revealed that he would like to make a return to Sampdoria next season with hopes of earning a call up to the Italy national team for the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament.

The 32-year-old left Parma in January due to the club’s deteriorating situation in the Serie A and has been without a team ever since, though he’s now focused on relaunching his career with the Blucerchiati, where he played from 2007-10.

Cassano spoke to Dribbling about where he would like to end up playing next campaign and commented on his wishes to represent the Azzurri in the Euro 2016 next summer.

“I’d love to go back to Sampdoria and possibly earn a spot in the Italy team for the Euro 2016 next year,” said the veteran forward, who scored five goals and provided two assists in his 19 Serie A appearances for Parma this term before making his exit.

“As an alternative, I’d also like to go and play for Monaco.”
