Pellissier - Cesena v ChievoEvergreen Chievo forward Sergio Pellissier has insisted that retirement is the furthest thing from his mind – as he gets ready to pen a new contract at the Bentegodi.

The 36-year-old popped up with a late leveller to rescue a point for the Flying Donkeys against Atalanta on Sunday afternoon – his seventh goal of the season.

“When you are playing and scoring goals, participating in the joys of the team, it is always a nice thing,” the Aosta native told Sky Sport Italia. “I am overjoyed to have played so much this year. I miss it when I am not and I take a great deal of satisfaction from this.

“I hope that I will remain at the club. I have not signed anything but I know how the club feel about me and how I feel. If there is a chance to play, I want to stay because I am still enjoying it and I want to continue for several more years. The time to stop is still away into the future.”

While he is adamant about his own intentions to stay, he also hopes that coach Rolando Maran chooses to remain as well with the Chievo tactician heavily linked with a move to Udinese in the summer.

“I hope that he will stay because he has did well. In the last few games we have had a bit of a fall but I think he might be here and he deserves it too.”
